Ikebana style arrangement

This week was the turn of the more challenging Ikebana style of flower arranging - this is where less is more and what is left out is as important as what is put in.

I have never worked with Strelizia before - Bird of Paradise flowers - and I must say that I was very pleased indeed with the finished design. Apart from the aforementioned flowers, I also used one Protea, Phormium leaves to cover up my foam brick, the seeds of Fatsia, some contorted hazel, a couple of Lotus pods and some orange berries.
